RYA training programs focus our intensive curriculum through a therapeutic lens, and advocate perpetual refinement through further education and experience in the field. We encourage respectful collaboration and communication between all styles and methods of yoga.
Our faculty and graduates form a global community of passionate educators dedicated to transforming themselves and others, that we may together transform our world. Simply put, we teach to heal.
Welcome to Raja Yoga Academy, where your most influential teacher stands before you in the mirror. We invite you to fulfill your highest potential and lead others toward that same realization.
Alone, we can do much. Together, we can do anything. The future begins with what we do today.
The facilitators, staff, and visiting teachers were life changing. This is a once-in-a-lifetime experience that I will never forget. It’s fun, and it’s hard, and it’s amazing. You think you’re coming to do yoga and learn how to teach yoga, and it’s really about who you are and how you’re going to change other people’s lives and help those around you. It’s not what you expect- it’s so much more.
Cate Reese - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
Director and Principal Teacher
Craig Villani has been teaching yoga since 1999 and served for nearly a decade as International Director of Education and Teacher Training for the Bikram Yoga College of India. Throughout his tenure, he guided thousands of instructors and facilitators through one of the most challenging and effective hatha yoga teacher training programs in the world.
He has led thousands of classes and hundreds of seminars, workshops, lectures, conferences, and retreats throughout the world, focusing on yoga therapy, personal transformation, mindfulness, and integrative health.
Internationally recognized for his revolutionary approach to education and leadership training, Craig’s authentic and intuitive teaching style is structured with precision and grounded in a somewhat irreverent sense of humor.
He hopes to provide a welcoming space in which students, teachers, and leaders of yoga can collaborate through honest and respectful communication to realize a better future together.
A big fan of Maui sunsets and lazy Sundays, Craig is confident that self-realization can be attained in a shady hammock on a warm beach with an old guitar, a cool drink, and a good friend. He sees the practice of yoga as an invaluable tool to expand our awareness and enhance the adventure of being alive.
